Faculty-led Short Term Program:

Exploring Religion and Culture in Japan

Open to all UC students in good academic standing, this program will introduce students to Japanese religious traditions with an emphasis on Shinto and Buddhism. Through guest lectures, tours of historical sites, and cultural events, students will gain an understanding of how the religious identities are expressed in modern Japanese society. Activities during the 16-day stay in the Tokyo area include visits to Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, an overnight stay at a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Zen meditation, and a weekend homestay with a Japanese family.
