UC English Community Engagement

Our mission is to connect the UC English Department with other departments and colleges at the university as well as with schools, libraries, civic and arts organizations, health care facilities, and more in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. We recognize the abundant resources present in our shared communities, which encompass the experiences and collective knowledge of the greater Cincinnati community as well as the UC community of students, faculty, and staff. Through collaborative, innovative, and interdisciplinary projects that support the work of community partners together with student development, we seek to cultivate sustained and sustainable partnerships and promote a culture of inclusivity, humility, self-awareness, and respect.

Beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by its affirmation, by each of us claiming the identities and cultural legacies that shape who we are and how we live in the world.
