EMERGE Program

The goal of the EMERGE (Ethnic Minority Enrichment in Research and Graduate Education) program is to provide underrepresented ethnic minorities with outstanding preparation for doctoral level training in psychology. The program provides seminars on the admissions process, the development of a curriculum vita (CV) and assistance with the personal statement, a GRE preparation course, an overview of research areas in psychology, and mentoring throughout the graduate school application process. This week-long program is held at the University of Cincinnati the last week of June.

The eligibility requirements include: active enrollment as an undergraduate in an accredited college or university; completion of sophomore year by the start of the program; 3.0 GPA; underrepresented minority status (e.g., African American, Hispanic, or Native American) and a strong intent to pursue a doctorate in psychology upon completion of the Bachelors degree. The application must be received by end of April. Applicants will be notified about the outcome of the application by end of May of the same year.

How to Apply

Please submit the following materials in a single envelope by April 23:

  • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (preferably in Psychology)
  • Official Transcripts for all colleges attended
