ITAL 1001 |
HU DC | Basic Italian I is first course in a two-course sequence of intensive basic Italian language and culture: the emphasis is on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Italian and on Italian cultures. Students learn through communicative activities in the classroom. This course counts toward the foreign language requirement. Completion of the 1001-1002 sequence fulfills various college language requirements. Students should confirm the language requirement with their home college. |

ITAL 1002 | HU DC | Basic Italian II is a second course in a two-course sequence of intensive basic Italian language and culture: further emphasis in speaking, listening, reading, writing and Italian cultures. In addition to learning through communicative activities in the classroom, students engage in basic conversation. This course fulfills the foreign language requirement. Prerequisite: ITAL 1001 Completion of the 1001-1002 sequence fulfills various college language requirements. Students should confirm the language requirement with their home college. |

ITAL 1021 | HU DC | Elementary Italian I CCM is the first course of a two-semester Italian language and culture sequence for CCM. Completion of ITAL 1021 and 1022 fulfills the CCM language requirement. Students learn basic speaking, listening, reading and writing at a more relaxed pace than in the intensive basic Italian sequence. Classroom time includes direct content-based (cultural) and language instruction as well as communicative activities, and is augmented by extensive computer-assisted learning outside of class, with focus on written texts and on pronunciation. Students deal with authentic materials, acquiring linguistic skills incrementally as a means to achieve intercultural competence. | x |

ITAL 2015 | HU DC | Italian Composition and Conversation is the first in a two-course sequence of the second year of Italian. In this course students develop and expand on basic linguistic forms and functions. First year skills are deepened and applied to the development of conversation and composition in Italian in order to develop communicative competence. The cultural component of this course is treated in an increasingly sophisticated way through student exploration in writing as well as through oral performance. Prerequisite: ITAL 1002 |

ITAL 2016 | HU DC | Italian Composition and Conversation II is the second in a two-course sequence of the second year. In this course students build on their knowledge and use of previously learned linguistic forms and functions. Students advance in their comprehension, reading, writing, and oral production skills. Activities, readings, and writing assignments become more elaborate. Compositions become longer and oral presentations become more specific and formal. The cultural component of this course is treated in an increasingly sophisticated way through student analysis in writing as well as through oral performance. Completion of the 1011 through 1014 sequence fulfills various college language requirements. Students should confirm the language requirement with their home college Prerequisite: ITAL 1002 |

Andiamo in Italia is designed for students participating in the study abroad experience also entitled Andiamo in Italia. The course presents an overview of Italian culture, focusing on the art and architecture of destination cities, and preparing the student for the tourist experience of navigating through, and communicating in, the target city. ITAL 2081 | HU DC | Italian Culture 2081 is designed to compliment a student's study of Italian language while in a study abroad experience in Italy. Students will tour a variety of local cultural sites, research local cuisine and prepare projects based upon these visits. The tours will be conducted in Italian. | |||
ITAL 3061 | Study Tour: Italy is a tour of one or more cities in Italy with an emphasis on culture, art, architecture and institutions. Students participate in an organized trip. This is not a class on the UC campus. Instructor permission is required. | x |
