MA in French Pedagogy Track

Would you like to advance your career in teaching Spanish or French?

The Department of Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures at the University of Cincinnati offers a pedagogy track at the M.A. level for French and Spanish speakers.

Program Strengths

  • Prepares graduate students with additional understanding, knowledge, and pedagogic and language skills beyond those acquired at the B.A. level in order to be an effective teacher in the FL classroom
  • Courses tailored for FL teachers in Spanish and French, including principles of language teaching and learning, using technology in the classroom, second language learning theories and research, and a range of courses in the target cultures and literatures
  • Classes offered in late afternoons and evenings to accommodate practicing teachers 
  • A learning atmosphere with talented peer graduate students from around the world
  • Teaching assistantships and tuition waivers available for qualified students.

Students in the Pedagogy track must pass an M.A. exam that covers both the Pedagogy Reading list and a reduced literature reading list (see Handbook).
