EVST-BS Major Requirements

In the first year, majors take EVST 1011 [Fall] and EVST 1012 [Spring]. Completion of this introductory sequence with a C- or better grade is a prerequisite for Ecology and Evolution [EVST 2084C].

The first year would also be the time to start taking the chemistry and/or math sequences needed for EVST - as well as the language, English, and other courses needed to fulfill College and University required foundational skills. Most 2000-level EVST electives do not have prerequisites and can therefore be taken in the first year. Many of these carry BoK codes that partially satisfy University General Education requirements.

In the Fall of the second year, students enroll in Ecology [EVST 2084C] and the professional development course, Research and Careers [EVST 2000].  A C- or better is required in these courses to continue onto the upper level electives, advanced topics, and capstone experience.
