Model UN Team

UC's Model United Nations Team participates in several regional and national UN simulation conferences each year, learning about international diplomacy and negotiation by representing delegations from a variety of countries (e.g. Rwanda, Macedonia, Israel) and working together to grapple with real-world challenges, including nuclear proliferation, terrorism, human rights, poverty, and the environment. Participants in Model UN develop leadership and public speaking skills and have the opportunity to meet other students with interests in international politics, organization, and law. In recent years, the Team has performed well, earning numerous individual and delegation awards.

Many Political Science and International Affairs majors participate in Model UN, but it is open to students from all majors. Interested students should sit in on a meeting to see if they would like to join. Contact the Model UN Team's current president, Delaney Rice (email: ricedy@mail.uc.edu) or faculty advisor, Dr. Al Klein to learn about meetings and activities. Students are advised to join early in the fall semester in order to maximize opportunities to attend conferences throughout the year. Team members who register for International Law and Organization (POL 2088) in the fall semester may be able to count their Model UN activities towards part of their course grade.
