B. Nathaniel Garrett, A&S '10, Law '13

Co-President and Shareholder at Helmer Martins Tate & Garrett Co., LPA
Nathaniel Garrett is the Co-President and named Shareholder of Helmer, Martins, Tate & Garrett Co., LPA—a boutique law firm that focuses on representing whistleblowers under the federal False Claims Act. Nathaniel has a nationwide legal practice based out of his office in East Walnut Hills. Nathaniel is a double Bearcat: he graduated magna cum laude and with honors, double majoring in International Affairs and Asian Studies, from the College of Arts and Sciences and earned his law degree summa cum laude and Order of the Coif from the College of Law. During law school, Nathaniel was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. Nathaniel is a U.S. Air Force veteran, having earned his commission as an officer through the R.O.T.C. program at UC. Nathaniel was a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s (“JAG”) Corps, serving as a prosecutor and then criminal defense attorney. In January 2017, he deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel.

Tom Tsuchiya ‘95

Sculptor
Tom’s lifelong passion for Greek and Roman art led him to earn a B.A. in Classical Civilization from U.C. and a successful career in art.
Tom credits his Classical education for honing his communication skills and deepening his appreciation for the rich, cultural foundation of our world. His studies have given him a unique lens through which he views the world, making his contributions insightful and invaluable.
His Classical education has profoundly shaped his well-known works including the plaques for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Reds sculptures at Great American Ball Park and the sculpture of U.C.’s beloved alumna, Marian Spencer at Smale Riverfront Park.
U.C. proudly exhibits two of his works: the award-winning, recycling receptable sculpture, Atlas Recycled at Blegen Library and his bold, bronze of the Bearcat on Short Vine.

Andy Bloch ’87

Playwright/Freelance Writer
Andy is an award-winning playwright and freelance writer. His works have been performed in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Off Broadway. He's also written several TV pilots, a show for PBS, and a holiday screenplay for Reel One Entertainment. As a freelance writer, Andy has written for several websites and magazines such as Music Connection, Songtalk Magazine, Ink Wire Magazine, turntablelive.com, and Entertainer Magazine, a popular entertainment magazine in Cincinnati. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.

Emily Meier

Emily Meier is a graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s Degree in Composition and Rhetoric. Emily started her career as a Technical Writer after gaining experience working in Wright State University’s Computer and Telecommunications Services office creating technical documentation for students and faculty/staff.
After graduating with her master’s degree, Emily worked for an engineering company in Cincinnati creating technical documentation for proposals, which eventually led to managing the proposal submission process. Emily has worked in pre-and-post award management for over 15 years with over 10 years of experience in research services. Emily specializes in project and process development. Research administration has assisted her in leading successful pre-award and post-award teams at several research organizations.
Jen Rollins, JD. A&S '07, Law '10

Staff Attorney, Baker Hostetler
Jen Rollins is a double graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in English Literature from the College of Arts and Sciences (2007) and a Juris Doctor from the College of Law (2010). She works as a litigation attorney focused on electronic discovery and also volunteers on a pro bono basis for housing cases with the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Jen serves on the UC Law Alumni Board and is the education chair of the Baker Hostetler Women’s Committee.

Katie is a growth-focused entrepreneur executive with 10+ years’ experience inspiring teams to design and deliver magnetic products, memorable experiences, and groundbreaking impacts. She has led strategic innovation narratives and served as a senior content strategist within fast-growth tech startups and the Fortune 500, including Boeing, NASA, Hershey, Sunoco, AAA, IFF, Dupont, Edgewell, Cincinnati Children's, Argonne National Lab, Crossover Health, Parsley Health, Omada, Physera, US Dept of Veterans Affairs, Millennium Challenge Corporation, World Food Forum, and the United Nations. She believes that everyone can be an innovator. empowered to share their bold ideas.

With a background in education and literature, I’ve transitioned into retail finance. My experience in the humanities provided me with tools I use daily to think critically and act with compassion. While the industry I’m in doesn’t traditionally align with the humanities, those fields have helped me find success in a career that will always need people who can think independently and care for others.

Emily Brichant is a Study Abroad Advisor in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. She received her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2020 following her bachelor’s degree in German that she received from Ohio University in 2016. Between her undergraduate and graduate careers, she lived and studied abroad for a combined two years in Austria and Germany. After graduating from UC, Emily taught high school German for two years. She now works in a role that aligns her passion of travel, working with students, and study abroad; she is excited to continue to give back to UC and help students have their own life-changing experiences abroad.

Zade Nabi ’18

Financial Crimes Officer, U.S. Bank
After a year and a half studying Graphic Design at the University of Louisville, Zade transferred to UC and switched to Political Science and History. Now, he is a financial crimes officer in the banking industry. Not initially realizing the connection between the social sciences and the field he entered after graduating, Zade was able to utilize his analytical and investigative skills he obtained from doing historical research and learning about sovereignty and rights and the history of the legal system.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Women's Studies. Jennifer was a founding member of Triota, the national Women's Studies honor society. Jennifer has 20 years of experience in legal services, management and insurance. She has used her passion for research, writing, and editing to work in family-owned law firms, as well as large title insurance companies; including projects for large commercial clients and the county prosecutor’s office.
Julian Johnson ’18

Assistant Attorney General, Office of the Ohio Attorney General
Julian serves as an Assistant Attorney General in the Public Utilities Section of the Office of the Ohio Attorney General. In this role, Julian handles transportation and utility matters before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Ohio Power Siting Board, and the Supreme Court of Ohio. Prior to starting this role, Julian practiced commercial litigation at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP from 2022 to 2024. Julian began his career as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Pierre H. Bergeron on the Ohio First District Court of Appeals from 2021 to 2022. Julian graduated from University of Cincinnati magna cum laude, double majoring in Philosophy and Psychology. He earned his law degree from The Ohio State Mortiz College of Law.
Gus Ricksecker ’18, ’19

Chief of Staff to Councilmember Evan Nolan, City of Cincinnati
Gus Ricksecker is a 2018 graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s with a master’s in philosophy. After a year of service in AmeriCorps, he went on to manage former Councilmember Reggie Harris’ 2021 campaign, securing him a seat on Cincinnati City Council and himself a position as Harris’ Chief of Staff.
Gus focuses on local urban issues such as housing, zoning, civil rights, and minority inclusion policies. He also helps structure the city’s roughly $2 billion budget. He helped direct over $10 million in investment toward community development and coordinated the city's first-ever council committee dedicated to housing. He now serves as Councilmember Evan Nolan's Chief of Staff and is a member of the METRO STEER committee and Bus Rapid Transit Advisory Group. He is a recent Forbes 30 Under 30 award winner.
