The Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS) announces an open call for art submissions for an art piece that will be used as the Feature Design for IRiS Ignite 2025. Ignite is a biennial interdisciplinary conference at the University of Cincinnati (UC) that brings together scholars, visionaries, artisans, and inventors from all disciplines to connect in conversation around sensing, perception, and sensory technology development.

Artists on and off campus are invited to submit a piece that they feel embodies sensing or perception, broadly defined. Submissions should take the form of an original digital image in either JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG or TIF format. Full-color images must also include a monochromatic version amenable for use in screen printing. Submissions should be emailed to sensingresearch@ucmail.uc.edu by April 25 for full consideration.

The first place winner will have their work publicly recognized on the IRiS Ignite website as well as have their design reproduced on conference paraphernalia (brochures, screen-printed bags, pins, etc.) First place will also receive a $150 prize, Ignite paraphernalia, and free admission to the 2025 IRiS Ignite Conference that will take place October 9 & 10 on UC campus. Second and Third place runner ups will also receive free admission to 2025 IRiS Ignite.

For any additional questions, contact us at sensingresearch@ucmail.uc.edu. To view feature art and information from past IRiS Ignites, feel free to visit Ignite 2022 and Ignite 2023 websites.
