IRiS Ignite Feature Art Competition

The Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS) announces a university-wide competition for an art piece that will be used as the Feature Design for IRiS Ignite 2023. Ignite is an annual interdisciplinary conference that brings together scholars, visionaries, artisans, and inventors from all disciplines in order to connect in conversation around the broad topic of sensing.

Students from all disciplines across campus are invited to submit a piece that they feel embodies sensing or perception, broadly defined. Submissions will take the form of an original digital image in either JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG or TIF format. Full-color images must also include a monochromatic version.

Winners will have their work publicly recognized on the IRiS Ignite Website as well as have their design reproduced on conference paraphernalia (brochures, screen-printed bags, pins, etc.). First place will also receive $150 award, Ignite paraphernalia, and free admission to the 2023 IRiS Ignite Conference that will take place on May 17-18 on UC Campus. Second and Third place runner ups will also receive free admission to 2023 IRiS Ignite.

To allow for winning submissions to be displayed at the event, submissions deadline is January 13. Winners will be notified on January 20 after being evaluated by the IRiS Leadership Team, which is composed of faculty and students across 7 different departments, ranging from Architecture and Interior Design to Comparative Literature and Biological Sciences.
